September 25, 2025 | Chengdu—Southwest Jiaotong University’s School of Economics and Management (SEM) and Chengdu Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd. have launched a new strategic partnership. The two parties signed an industry-academia cooperation agreement and jointly unveiled the “Research Center for Intelligent Decision-Making in Engineering Consulting” and a “Joint Research and Demonstration Base.”
The ceremony was attended by JIANG Jia, Secretary of the CPC SEM Committee; faculty representatives XU Jin, LI Qiang, and ZHANG Qi; CHEN Qihu, Executive Director and General Manager of Chengdu Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd.; and Vice General Managers FU Shuijing and XIE Tao.

In his address, CHEN stated that in the face of the industry’s digital and AI-driven transformation, this partnership is a key strategy for enhancing core competitiveness. “We will seize this opportunity to leverage our combined strengths, apply the research center’s findings, and help cultivate what is known as ‘new quality productive forces’,” he said.

JIANG remarked that intelligent decision-making has become a key driver for high-quality development in the industry. “SEM has a solid foundation in big data, AI, and intelligent decision-making theory, while Chengdu Engineering Consulting brings a wealth of practical case studies and resources from its digital transformation efforts,” she said. “This partnership is strategically significant and will allow us to create a leading industry think tank, fostering innovation and driving continuous advancement in the sector.”

Under the agreement, the two parties will collaborate on the research and application of theories, tools, and methods for intelligent decision-making. The partnership will focus on three key areas: advancing research to foster innovation, co-developing the joint research base, and strengthening talent development and resource sharing.


The ceremony concluded with a group photo, signifying the start of a new chapter in university-enterprise collaboration. This partnership is a proactive response to the national policy of accelerating high-quality development in the engineering consulting industry and is poised to inject new momentum into the sector’s reform and innovation.
