Our (MEM) students conducted an insightful visit and seminar at the Volvo Chengdu factory.

This activity aimed to deepen students' understanding of advanced manufacturing, broaden their perspectives on economic development trends, and provide a hands-on experience.Under the guidance of professors Li Haibo and Zhou Jing, the MEM students visited the Volvo Car Chengdu factory on December 15th.

During the interactive session, students actively participated, raising numerous questions and displaying a strong interest in automotive technology. Volvo staff not only provided detailed answers to the students' inquiries but also led them to the electric vehicle display for in-depth explanations and interactions.

Subsequently, the students embarked on a tour of the Volvo Chengdu factory's production line, witnessing the entire process from component assembly to the finished product. In that moment, students felt as if they were in the heart of the automotive manufacturing industry, experiencing the charm of advanced manufacturing technology. On the production line, workers carried out their tasks in an orderly fashion, guiding the students through the roar of machinery and the interplay of lights on the assembly line, showcasing the intricacy, efficiency, and standardization behind the automotive industry.

The visit and seminar at the Volvo Chengdu factory provided MEM students from Southwest Jiaotong University's School of Economics and Management with more than just a glimpse into advanced automotive manufacturing technology. Through in-depth exchanges with industry professionals, they gained tangible knowledge and practical experience. This on-site exploration allowed students to deeply experience the integration of theory and practice, fostering broader considerations for their future career development choices and laying a more solid foundation for their professional paths.
